This is interesting.  I’m excited about the idea of Facebook integration as a community-building device.

However, I’ve tried Facebook integration using disqus, intense debate, and a couple of plugins on my WordPress blog and I haven’t been very impressed. They’re either slow, confusing, ugly, or some combination of the three.

When I get some free time for development, I’ll take a look at adding FabEE.  Have any other sites started using it yet?

With the new Facebook OpenGraph Protocol being released, how does this effect the use of your plugin?

Hi Robbiegod,

I’m still assessing the full extent of the changes within the platform and how that might affect fabEE in the future. As far as I understand it at the moment, the original API does still work though the new permissions system might need addressing.

Is there an EE2 version in the works or did I miss that in my stupidity? :)

@Greg - Thanks for replying. I don’t mean to be a PITA, but when you have a moment can u look at the new OpenGraph and see if and when FB discontinues the original API (which is bound to happen eventually) that you aren’t and everyone using your program aren’t going to left high and dry. Right now it works and we’re excited about this project - its a great EE plugin!  I just want to make that when i buy it it will be able to work with all the new goods.

Are you planning to rewrite it so it will work only with the new FB platform?

yeah, and i am curious if you are writing a version for EE2 as well. We plan to upgrade.

Can you write a blog post once you know how major or minor the changes are you are going to need to make to use the new protocol? I hope they made it easier for us to connect to it.

Will this work on the EE forum module? Specifically, will the user be able to push his comments to his Facebook status? Also, what other info can be posted to their FB page? Considering using this for the Forum portion of the site to add to the viral popularity of our forum. Please provide any comments/suggestions you may have.

Thanks in advance!

@Geoff Cowan,

There is an EE2 version in the works! :)

@Robbiegod,

I will migrate the extension to the new system during updates - no timeline for that though.

@Peter,

Unfortunately the current version does not allow forum posts to be pushed to the FB stream, it only works for blog comments.
